Abundantly Blessed - A blog about living well, doing good...and loving chocolate

The Beginnings of Bellafina

I have been abundantly blessed in my life.  We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but my parents provided a safe, nurturing home with a strong emphasis on education and accomplishing as much as possible in our lives.  It is heartbreaking to see so many children who do not have these advantages.  It was a desire to help these children that inspired the creation of Bellafina Chocolates.

Finger Painting at Kingsport Child Development CenterI  started Bellafina Chocolates in 2010 during my spare time while working as a Vice President in a Fortune 500 industrial company.  I dedicated the company to helping underprivileged kids and we quickly raised several thousand dollars for children’s charities.  Barely a year later a corporate restructuring left me without a job and pondering what to do with the second half of my career.

I believe that God gives us certain gifts, talents, and circumstances for a specific purpose.  It is difficult to be sure of that purpose, but for my part I am dedicating myself to growing this company to the point that it can make a really significant impact on children’s lives.

Bellafina Chocolates Production LineOur little company is starting to do some great things!  In 2012 we dramatically expanded our production capacity to keep up with growing demand for our chocolates.  Bellafina Chocolates was awarded the KOSBE small business award and have expanded our customer base.

We are committed to helping kids who are at risk due to factors out of their control, and we do this by supporting caring organizations who are effectively reaching these children.  Just a few examples…

  • Children threatened by disease – Children Exceeding Expectations is a school especially for children fighting cancer.
  • Children threatened by poverty – Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian organization bringing food, water, and other help to families in the most desperately poor parts of the globe.
  • Children threatened by family situations – Folds of Honor Foundation provides scholarships to children of U.S. soldiers killed in defending our country.
  • Children threatened by illiteracy – The Literacy Council of Kingsport teaches both adults and children to read in order to break the cycle of illiteracy that moves from one generation to the next in many families.

Right now Bellafina Cares™  is writing thousand dollar checks to charities such as these.  One day we hope to be able to write million dollar checks!

We appreciate your support as we make this journey!
